Signs Your Kwikset Smart Lock Is Failing
- The motor whirs but the deadbolt doesn’t move. This is the most common failure we see in Illinois, especially after winter temperature swings. - Battery life collapses from six months to two weeks. Usually indicates the motor is drawing excess current due to binding, or the Wi-Fi radio on Halo models is cycling connection attempts because of weak signal strength. We check door alignment and your router placement before swapping parts.
- Key override turns freely with no resistance. The tailpiece adapter has cracked or the cylinder cam has separated from the smart mechanism. This leaves you with no mechanical backup, which is a security gap we treat as urgent.
